As a recruitment consultant, Sarah wanted to try digital marketing for herself

Sarah Chester.jpgSarah hadn’t worked in a marketing position before enrolling on Squared Online. For the past year, she had instead been working as a recruitment consultant in the digital marketing industries.

After speaking with so many clients and candidates in these industries, Sarah found herself being genuinely interested and inspired by the work they were doing. She began to search for digital marketing courses, and her interest was piqued by Squared Online. “Unlike other courses it's sounded a lot more interactive and collaborative, so I thought it would be a great fit for me.”

What did Sarah expect?

“I didn’t really know what to expect. As it was promoted as engaging, I was hoping that it would be different to university where a lecturer talks at you for an hour and then you go away to do self-directed research. Although I enjoyed this as a student, I felt I’d struggle with that now as I work full-time.

I wanted to find a course which was engaging and that I would enjoy spending my spare time in the evening on.”

Sarah’s expectations were well and truly met. “The live classes are very engaging and you can actively get involved in them as well as the group projects. I learnt about all aspects of digital marketing, including content marketing, social media marketing, analytics and the latest digital trends.”

What did she think about working online?

“I loved online learning. I work full time, so it’s perfect for me. I always tried to make the live classes but if I missed one it was fine, as I knew I could catch up at a more convenient time. Also, it’s great how you can pick up where you left off on the tasks when you have a spare hour in the evening.”

Sarah also enjoyed the group work element of the course. “I think you learn so much from other people and it was great for me to pick people’s brains who were already in the industry. It also gave me a lot more confidence as it allowed me to put the things I’d learnt into practice.”

Were there any stand-out moments?

“My stand out moment was getting 92% on the analytics module. I’d never used Google Analytics before, so I thought this part of my course would be something I’d struggle with but it became one of my biggest strengths. It’s now an area of marketing I’m extremely interested in.”

What’s the future looking like?

Since completing the course, Sarah has been offered a role in marketing with Talent Works International, based in Manchester. She was actually recommended to get in touch with this company by one of her team members, so for Sarah, Squared has been great for networking as well!

And would she recommend Squared to other people? - The answer is a resounding “yes”.

“I’d definitely recommend Squared Online to other people looking to get into digital marketing, or those who want to brush up on their digital marketing skills.”
