Chris loved his Squared Online experience - and he got promoted after graduating!

Chris B.jpgChris has been working in communications and marketing roles in the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors for over six years and finds working in healthcare really rewarding.

He enjoys knowing and understanding the people that this sector is trying to reach, from patients to doctors, as well as challenging himself to be as innovative as possible. 'Insights drive performance in every sector but in healthcare performance makes a huge difference to people’s lives.'

As a Senior Account Director at strategic healthcare communications agency Aurora, Chris attended a Squared Online taster class and it convinced him to sign up for the digital marketing leadership course. One of the reasons why he did so was because communications is constantly evolving - and he finds that clients often don’t understand what these changes mean for their brands and customers.

Chris was impressed with Squared Online, particularly with the way the modules are designed to encourage reading beyond the class content, as well as the real mix of online and offline content. 'The tutors were always flexible and stayed longer during classes to make sure we had enough support.'

And group work? 'Being able to work with a group of people from a range of different backgrounds was invaluable.' Chris valued how every team member challenged the briefs in different ways, and how they all taught each other an incredible amount. 'Being able to manage relationships and teams remotely will become a core skill in the workplace as teams become connected virtually. This was definitely one of the ‘softer’ skills I took away from Squared Online.'

Overall, Chris’ expectations for Squared Online were met. 'On top of the digital aspect, I loved the leadership elements of the course as well. I hadn’t considered that the course would teach you to actually lead change, but it’s now those qualities that I hold myself to on a daily basis here at Aurora.'

Thanks to his learnings with Squared Online, Chris’ role has changed dramatically. Since graduating, he has helped establish digital insights as a service within Aurora - which led to his promotion as the company’s Digital Insights Lead. This team looks at integrating data-driven insights to inform strategic decision making for all clients, helping to lead change for their teams and clients.
