Daniel is climbing the career ladder with a helping hand from Squared Online

At just 21, Daniel Green is climbing the digital ladder faster than most. Daniel began his career as an apprentice at a small media company. He participated in the Squared Online course while he was working there and was promptly promoted within the company.

Daniel now works at one of the largest global media agencies, Starcom, as a Paid Social Executive for Heineken. He credits his rapid rise to the knowledge and confidence he gained participating in Squared Online, the digital marketing course developed with Google.

Confidence is key

Daniel’s goal in doing the Squared Online course was to broaden his knowledge of digital marketing, but he also wanted to reassure himself of the skills he already had. “I wanted to gain confidence in all areas of digital and acquire knowledge of other channels to use in combination with that I already knew.”

Learning online was a great fit for Daniel, and he really appreciated the ability to go at his own pace. “I really enjoyed being able to catch up on things when I had time,” he said. “It was also great to be able to watch a live class, and then go back and re-watch a section to understand it better.”

Like all of our Squared Online students, Daniel acknowledged the importance of group work in the course. “It was amazing to be able to meet and work with people who come from different levels of experience. It was a challenge to connect with people in different countries and time zones, but it definitely taught me a lot about virtual teamwork!”

Although Daniel graduated from Squared Online in 2015, he still uses knowledge he acquired on the course every day. Working for a global agency like Starcom, Daniel is often communicating virtually and is especially thankful that this skill was covered throughout Squared Online.

Did Squared Online meet his expectations?

After graduating from the course, Daniel noticed an immediate boost in his confidence in all things digital. He loved learning new things with so many motivated students and expert speakers.

His takeaway? “If anyone were to ask me if the course is worth doing, I would definitely say yes. Doing the Squared Online course definitely gave me the confidence to apply for the job I have now and I think having the qualification on my CV was a massive reason why I was considered for my position. My career really took off.”
